Then I headed over to Laurel Dell Elementary for our 4th grade bike safety class.

Warner Canyon

I've been exploring short loops for the winter season including Warner Canyon.

Mountain biking is year-round here.

The dirt is rocky and drains amazingly well. A little puddle here and there ain't so bad.

It's been raining for days and the trails are clean.

Doubt that people hate cyclists?  Just read the comments on any bike related story online.

The psychology of the backlash against bikes is simple, as are the people.

Undoubtedly they will learn but until then recognize their anger and find common ground.
Try to direct the hostility towards meaningful solutions!

Can you politely handle these common complaints about cycling? 

1.  Why do bike riders get in my way, shouldn't they stay out of traffic for everyone's good?

2.  Why don't bike riders follow the law?

3.  Why don't bikers have to pay for the road like drivers do?

4.  Won't taking space away from cars cause delays for working people who need to drive?

5.  Why are bike riders such entitled jerks?

Corte Madera Summit

I marched my bike up to the Summit of Corte Madera Ridge (Christmas Tree Hill).

It really was a march at times because the summit is steep, but the view is great.

I look at Mt. Tam and become inspired to ascend. When I do make it to the top I remember all the times I've looked up and feel satisfaction.  I love conquering my mountain!

I used both GPS tracking apps, I noticed Strava shorting me miles on past rides.

Strava:           4.9 miles with 1,022 feet of climbing and max 30 mph.
Endomondo: 4.98 miles with 1,000 feet of climbing and max 26.3 mph.

Hmmmm... this might require further testing...

Larkspur's Safe Streets

Doherty Drive reopened today in Larkspur.  The new road features bike lanes in both directions and a multi-use path on the Redwood High School side.

Many residential streets were infiltrated with drivers trying to short-cut the traffic from the Doherty closure.  This family didn't wait for a child to be hit, they slowed traffic themselves!

You can slow traffic in front of your house, like this family in Larkspur.
